Day 27: WAHEY WE MADE IT TO THE END!!!!!!

Image
As our journey draws near to an END (excuse the pun) we only had 35 miles until we had completed our crazy cycle adventure! After we passed a police incident with search dogs and all, we then had to climb various hills and stairs to get across a railway. Cycling through Redruth, and then Hayle we then stopped of for a roast lunch! After our pitstop we then headed towards Penzance to cycle along the windy coast, although in the sunshine! Although Jenna was a bit disorientated having come from one sea view to another but from north to south coast! The last leg of the country and we speeded off to Lands End, where we were encouraged by some jolly cyclists just starting off! As we arrived we had the family cheering us over the finish line with a horn, welcoming banners  and balloons 🎈! We then had our official photos with the bikes and signed the visitors book to complete our journey! Funny moments of the day: Kayla singing toot sweet and finishing the line with a different song... goin

Day 26: The penultimate everything

Image
Funny moment in the night: Jenna dreaming her bike was falling and so goes to grab it but actually grabs Kayla's arm really hard causing Jenna to wake up and Kayla!!! 😂 It's the penultimate day!!!! Sun is shining and 50 miles ahead of us we wanted to crack on to our last nights stay! We had a lovely breakfast to give us our energy and then we set off! After being in a hedgerow for the last few days we suddenly stumbled onto a flat disused airfield which had various farm animals and amazing views! We then went onto the Camel trail which which was ironically flat (I think the camel lost its hump and became a horse!) Stopping off for lunch at Dunmere we then headed back off into the sunshine although possibly half and hour in the wrong direction! So today we got lost a lot however not so lost that we didn't know where we were, but probably managed to add another ten miles (on the positive side we had more tanning time in the sun!!) Eventually arriving at the bright green  b

Day 25 "There's one more snail in heaven"

When in a warm cosy bed who would ever want to leave it? That question baffles us every single time we have to wake up in the morning to cycle in the rain! HOWEVER this morning we woke up to glorious sunshine, a magnificent feast put on for us by our lovely hosts, and raring to get the day done! But when we left the warmth of the amazing house full of wonderful people, we were catapulted straight into a face full of drizzle!  Today consisted of multiple hills (some we will admit to walking!) and envy of people in cars. As we arrived at the top of a hill we met a lovely man and his. He was astounded and shocked that we had with us no map and compass and even his puppy was too, as Ellie was barking tremendously 🐶! We then headed on up the hill and made it to lunch in Holsworthy for a bacon butty and lasagne in the worlds most empty pub!😂 After our late lunch Jenna got caught by an old local to talk about recent bike deaths within the area and Kayla found some more cows 🐮😂 we then to

Day 24: RIP to the hula hoop

After a lovely nights sleep at the Blackcurrant farm we headed off early to our next destination near North Tawton. Travelling through little back roads was amusing and we felt very rural! Back onto a canal where we had lots of snack and drink stops and also saw a canal boat which was being pulled by a horse, which was amazing! Then onto Tiverton for a picnic where we sat on a multicoloured bench! Off for the next 26 miles to oournext stay we had all weathers! We also had moments where we just went insane, trying to do odd accents (due to the fact we are cycling every day! Kayla's king Julian from Madagascar is the best! 😂) and taking silly videos! Then after a few big hills we decided to stop off at the Black Dog Inn for a drink! Inside we met a great group of locals who warmly welcomed us and chatted with us about our journey! After there lovely well wishes we then had only a few miles more to our stay, but before that we needed to eat! So we went to the local Chippy and ate so

Day 23: Soaked head to toe

Waking up to the sound other hostellers was different, although we slept amazing as we luckily had the room to ourselves and so slept like logs! After a pain au raisin and some inside knowledge about how to get to our next destination, all we had to remember was to turn left at the bright pink pub!! 😂 Of course it poured again but what can we expect we have now entered Somerset! After stopping first at one pub to be only told they don't serve food we then had to get back on our bikes in the rain to the next pub where we gobbled! Off to Halfords for a quick bike revamp and then on to Taunton. We arrived at our next nights stay with a lovely family who live on a blackcurrant farm (they make Ribena  😱) where we were treated to some of their home grown blackcurrants and maps galore to help us plan our trip into Cornwall! Off to bed for a busy day ahead! Funniest moment of the day: Jenna stopping at a junction to look ahead at oncoming traffic but misjudged the distance to the pavem

Day 22: Fudge, slugs and Glastonbury love!!

Image
Waking up to tea kindly made by Abby was wonderful! After a quick change and a Skype call to Lucy (Kayla's uni friend) we headed off into the city of Bath, walking in the glorious sunshine, with our shades on! We went to go and see the Roman Baths! They were so fascinating and we learnt a lot more than just somewhere to bathe! Abby was the supreme winner of getting her coin into the middle pool of water so sure she will be having eternal luck! We also saw the wier and finished our Bath tour by visiting the fudge shop, buying a delicious rum and raisin slab which we shared on our bus journey back up the hill to Abby's house! Setting off for the next 30 miles started well travelling down hill at about 25 miles a hour, Wheyhay! 😂 however the sun didn't last and after a quick lunch at the riverside cafe the rain soon loomed upon us! Drenched once again we plodded on to our next nights stay at the first youth hostel to be made in England, where we were greeted by some enthusias

Day 21: Muddy mayhem and mars bar meltdown!

Image
After rejuvenating ourselves with our chums we headed off to Bath stocked up with energy, motivation and fuel! Today was a canal cycling day, good for not having to navigate and for flat land but acts as a pick and mix for land quality! We had a bit of everything - grass, mud, stone, puddle, clay and finally some tarmac! (Which Kayla kissed as she is not the biggest fan of canal cycling!) As we travelled down the Devises locks we stopped at the bottom on a bench to eat sandwhiches, sausage rolls, the remaining pringles and mars bars! (Don't even ask what happened with Jenna's mars bar!) 😂 The rest of the afternoon contained lots of puddles, getting muddy and assisting a canal boat to get past another, as one was not tied up properly and was just floating in the canal! Near the end of our cycle we cycled up a big hill! At the top of the hill we camethrough a school where we met the headmaster who offered us showers! (we must have smelt bad!😂) Eventually we ended up at Abby&#

Day 20: Aliens or just human trickery?

Image
After a tremendous sleep we woke to glorious sunshine! Whilst it was sunny we proceeded to clean and fix our bikes for the next few days ahead! After some crazy planning in the map room with some jelly babies  we had a lovely quiche lunch. Then off to a crop circle museum to find out about the aliens or humans whichever you believe is true!😂 We then went to Avebury to see the stones, they were meant to be in a circle but it didn't look like the circle I had been taught at school, it was more like a wiggly line! We managed to walk through the stones, past the men with no shoes who were at one with the stones just before it poured it down with rain! We also saw many chalk horses on the hills! We headed back in the warmth of the car to the house. After a little more route planning we sorted out our panniers and ate the most wonderfully home cooked roast lamb, although it didn't contain any chervil herb (if it even was that!) 😂 Hot chocolate and off to bed after a wonderful day w
